Qatar's payment ecosystem recorded strong growth in June 2026, with total transaction value reaching QR99.101 billion and transaction volume climbing to 75.135 million, according to the latest data released by the Qatar Central Bank (QCB).
Strong Growth in Payment Transactions
QCB reported that total payment system transactions increased by 21% year-on-year, rising from 62.074 million in June 2025 to 75.135 million in June 2026. The increase reflects the growing adoption of digital payment solutions and stronger economic activity across the country.

Card Payments Continue to Lead
Card payment systems remained the dominant payment method, accounting for 89.2% of total transaction volume, although their share declined slightly from 94.5% a year earlier.
Meanwhile, transfer payment systems expanded their share to 10.8%, reflecting increasing consumer and business reliance on bank transfers.
Transaction Value Jumps 40%
In terms of transaction value, Qatar's payment systems recorded a significant increase from QR70.585 billion in June 2025 to QR99.101 billion in June 2026, representing 40% annual growth.
Transfer payment systems were the primary driver, contributing 76.8% of the total transaction value, up from 64.6% in the previous year.
Card payments represented 23.2% of the total transaction value, indicating that larger-value payments are increasingly being processed through transfer systems.
Card Payment Activity Continues to Grow
The report also highlighted continued growth in card payment usage.
Total card transactions: 66.996 million
Total card transaction value: QR23.005 billion
Point-of-Sale and E-Commerce See Higher Usage
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions remained the most widely used payment channel, increasing from 43.284 million in June 2025 to 48.743 million in June 2026.
Online (e-commerce) payments also posted strong growth, rising from 9.639 million to 13.235 million transactions during the same period, reflecting Qatar's expanding digital commerce sector.
Instant Payment System Fawran Expands
QCB's data showed continued growth in the Fawran instant payment service.
The platform recorded:
3.884 million registered accounts
3.886 million transactions
QR6.745 billion in transaction value
The figures highlight increasing adoption of instant digital payment services across Qatar.
Tahweel Transfers Record Significant Increase
The Tahweel bank-to-bank transfer system also witnessed remarkable growth during June.
Compared to last year, the system recorded:

143% increase in transaction volume
Tahweel processed transactions worth QR68.963 billion, with a total of 3.463 million transactions during the month.
Qatar's Digital Payments Continue to Expand
The latest QCB figures indicate that Qatar's digital payment landscape continues to evolve rapidly. Strong growth in transaction value, increasing adoption of instant transfer services, expanding e-commerce activity, and rising digital wallet registrations all point to growing consumer confidence in digital financial services.
As digital payments become faster, more secure, and widely accessible, Qatar continues to strengthen its position as one of the region's leading cashless economies.
